We have been known to coordinate our efforts at The Lost Project via email, text and calls as we are really spread out as a team and working together is much easier this way when you take into account time differences. Naturally, when it comes to the artistic elements the deferment comes directly to me (JamesC) as creative director, but when it comes to a contract or a particular sales aspect we do prefer to have a consensus on the process to be sure that we are all on the same page.
Overall there is a reason for this especially now that we are taking a close look at contract options for distribution and the marketing strategies we need to implement to make the arrangement move forward for the whole team.
At the moment, we are being strategically careful about what we take on and have agreed that splitting into two key areas for both the marketing and networking aspects we need to make things viable.
With the creative director role including working to design and define the brand (Lost Project) we felt that it would be a smart move to collaborate with certain brands and cover smaller pop up shows with designers, allowing us a two fold marketing/networking strategy.
First off this gives up images that can be used to augment the website and of course market the designer/designers involved in the pop -up shows through careful placement of products we can also support smaller or newer brands and our contacts within the PR spectrum.
Second and most importantly, we can network, accessing people and resources while we work that will help later in projects we have planned (hence our current review of contracts). All of this carefully structured and planned out work is time consuming as we do need to negotiate that little bit extra but overall the plan is solid and allows us to open different doors that little bit quicker that may have otherwise not been available to us without the background work it takes.
As a business move its time consuming but we all believe in long term strategies over short term goals.
Going forward we are planning looks and starting to look at models for potential shoots as well as finding new avenues to promote and add affiliates that will be integrated into stills and video based shoots over the coming year.
